Where we protect you

The policy is specifically designed to meet the needs of computer consultants. The policy will indemnify you against your legal liability for damages, costs and expenses resulting from breach of professional duty in connection with your business. Cover can be extended to include previous work undertaken. The cover offered includes indemnity against legal liability in the following areas.

• Breach of professional duty.
• Breach of copyright or infringement of patent and design rights.
• Breach of confidentiality of trade secrets.
• Malicious acts of employees.
• Loss of documents (including computer systems records).
• Liability arising out of the Data Protection Act 1998 (excluding fines).
• Public liability.

Areas of work not acceptable under this facility are:

• Businesses based on the manufacture, installation and servicing of hardware.
• Businesses where over 75% of the total income is from the sale/supply of hardware.
• Businesses that have representation in USA/Canada.

How much will cover cost?

Premiums are calculated dependant upon the limits of cover, extensions and the annual income of the consultant. An excess for each claim will apply, starting from as low as £400.00. A further discount may also be applied for companies established for less than six months for the first year of insurance subject to the application of the Retroactive exclusion.
