Example of covers

A full copy of the policy wording is available on request but a brief example follows.

All covers for 'portable' equipment extend Worldwide. All covers provide for Consulting Fees and Expediting Costs.

i) Theft/Accidental Damage/Data Carrying Media.

(a) Any accidental (including malicious) loss or damage from whatever cause such as fire, flood, theft, drinks spilt on or objects dropped in equipment, faulty media, dropping
etc.
(b) As (a) above but excluding Fire and other associated perils such as Earthquake, Storm, Explosion, Impact, Flood, Burst Pipes, Riot, Malicious Damage, Theft or Attempted Theft, as these items may already be covered under another policy.

Cover automatically applies to equipment anywhere in the world if declared as being portable or temporarily removed from the premises for all other equipment, for purposes
such as cleaning, repair etc.

Data carrying media (e.g. discs or tapes) lost or damaged as a result of an insured incident anywhere in the UK and, if in transit, Western Europe, provided it is declared on the equipment schedule.

Hardware breakdown would normally be covered under your maintenance or warranty agreement, however there are occasionally situations where if your negligence causes
the failure this would not be included. Consequently we include negligent breakdown providing either a full maintenance or warranty contract is in force, or equipment is insured under Burnetts Computer Maintenance Insurance.

ii) Additional Expenses.

Costs and expenses incurred by you in order to temporarily replace or provide alternative solutions to your computing needs following any loss or damage to your computer due to a claim under your policy. For example, the cost of renting an alternative system or bureau facilities, additional staff or overtime etc.

iii) Data Reinstatement/Program Replacement.

The cost of reinstating data or programs lost or damaged as a result of an insured incident to your system including accidental or malicious erasure or accidental failure of the public electricity supply.
